Segovia was and always will be The Maestro. He was, as other reviewers say, the pioneer of modern classical guitar. To say that he has been somehow surpassed and passed by, as one previous reviewer seems to think is pure rubbish. To say that others have followed in his footsteps and become greats as well, is fact.

Music is always open to interpretation. Segovia was a great player and to understand the history of the classical guitar one must have listened to Segovia. He created the yardstick by which others are now measured.

This set not only includes great works played by the Maestro, it also includes Segovia speaking of his own life with the guitar. It is worth having along with other, more modern, gifted players such as Williams, Bream, Parkening and others who followed in the Maestro's footsteps.

During the last few years, copper has become the standard metallisation material for on-chip interconnects in high-performance microprocessors. Compared to the previously used aluminium, copper shows not only a lower resistivity, but also significantly improved electromigration resistance. Copper ions, however, are very mobile in silicon and many dielectric materials under electrical and thermal bias. Thus, barrier layers are needed to prevent Cu diffusion into the insulating layers surrounding the metallic interconnects. Since Ta-based compounds are characterized by a high thermal stability, pure Ta films or layer stacks consisting of Ta and TaN are used for such barriers.

Andres Torres Segovia, 1st Marquis of Salobrena (21 February 1893 – 2 June 1987) was a Spanish classical guitarist born in Andalucia, Spain. He is widely considered to be the greatest classical guitarist of the twentieth century and one of the finest players of all time. Segovia is credited, with other composers in expanding the repertoire for the guitar in the 20th century, and like Tarrega and Llobet, made many important transcriptions of works for keyboard, cello and violin.

A wonderful CD. The recordings whilst (obviously) old are delightfully clear, if a little hissy. The quality of the performances is, for me, flawless. Segovia's superb tone and intonation, his dynamics and his effortless rhythm make listening to this CD a lesson in humility for any guitarist.
But it's not just as a guitar recording that I love this CD. The interpretations of the pieces stand comparison with any ever recorded, and I include the violin and cello "originals" with that. In particular the Chaconne is breathtaking. I think it's the perfect Sunday-morning CD. ~Andrew Ward
